Choosing Databases

The RECOMMENDED DATABASE LINKS listed on this page suggest good starting places for finding the types of scholarly resources you will select as sources in Composition Courses at LLCC. A variety of source types selected from a variety of databases is generally recommended. Screenshots detailing the different databases featured here can be found using the "sneaky peaky" tabs above under Subscription Databases.

Links on this guide open directly to Search Interfaces, where you will enter search terms and find sources (articles, news, essays, etc) in the results lists. Connect to the recommended database listed above and more from the LLCC Library homepage using the drag down menu under the Articles & Scholarly Resources tab.

full-text: HTML or PDF ???

Full-text articles include every word of the original publication as it appeared in print. However, full-text may look different depending on the format.

HTML full-text - all the words in the original article have been entered into the database/searchinterface format; in some cases, photos, maps, tables and charts may be omitted.

PDF full-text - is an exact digital copy or photo/scan of the document as it appeared in it's original print form. The layout, headlines, ads, original page numbers will all appear in this file. Thus, all photos, tables, etc will be included. The digital file looks exactly like the print version.
