Kickoff Fiesta

Monday, Sept. 16, 11:00 a.m. - 2 p.m., A. Lincoln Commons

Each Sept. 15 marks the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States. Join us for food, music, history, literature and celebration!

La Loteria Mexicana (Mexican Bingo)

Wednesday, Sept. 25,  11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons

Loteria is the Spanish word for lottery.  It is a bingo-style game of chance with colorful cards depicting Mexican history and culture.  Join us for fun, prizes, Abuelita hot cocoa and an opportunity to learn Spanish words and yell "Ganador!" in the game of La Loteria!

"Cultural Conversations" with Latino author John Paul Jaramillo - La Familia es Todo!

Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. in the LLCC Library

Family is everything in Hispanic culture.  Intergenerational bonds are built in Hispanic family units with respect, loyalty and tradition.  Join us to hear LLCC's own Latino author, John Paul Jaramillo, read excerpts from his book "Little Mocos."  Jaramillo will take us on a journey with a young Hispanic boy named Manito who yearns for truth and understanding in a complex poor Latino family living in Colorado.  Share your own stories with patriarchs, matriarchs and other family members who influenced your lives.  

Closing Fiesta

Join your fellow Loggers as we close out National Hispanic Heritage Month with a Fiesta celebrating Hispanic culture.  Sample Latin cuisine and learn famous Spanish quotes and cultural proverbs.  Enjoy entertainment, games and of course, a pinata!
